The Lingerie Journal Launches Buyer Guide for New Retailers

The Lingerie Journal launched a new retail advice column aimed at retailers new to the lingerie industry. The New Buyer Guide serves as a resource with advice and tips any retailer, regardless of experience, can put into action.

Written by Jennifer Manuel Carroll, author of Underneath It All, A Girls Guide to Buying, Wearing and Loving Lingerie, the column demystifies the basics of shopping for a lingerie business.

Shaped by the Jennifer’s 10-plus year experience as a lingerie boutique owner, the New Buyer Guide starts with the basics of Positioning and leads into Inventory insights, Budget tips, Merchandising advice and ends with the importance of Vendor Relations.

The column’s insights were also inspired by Jennifer’s recent experience of handing over the reigns of her lingerie boutique, Bellefleur, to a new owner.

“This past summer, I sold my business to a fellow entrepreneur who has worked for me on a part time basis for years. And at the last CurveNY show in August, I took the new owner, Lindsey, with me to the show to introduce her to the wonderful world of buying lingerie,” noted Jennifer. “Hardly a novice, Lindsey has worked with lingerie for years (she worked on and off in lingerie stores since high school). She can easily identify what she likes, and what will most likely sell. While going to market can definitely be overwhelming, viewing the NY Curve expo through her eyes and observing her interactions with the vendors and products I realized how truly overwhelming the overall buying process can be.”

The new column immediately received high praise from retailers on social media sites like Twitter with Valerie Cuttino, owner of Lovely’s Lingerie Boutique in Philadelphia, calling the article “a great resource for us newbies in the #lingerie #business.”
